What Makes Me Different?

There are lots of videographers you could find online. All of us are jockeying for position to film your wedding. Some are in the upper echelon of film, putting together incredible, cinematic masterpieces at destination weddings across the globe. Some are just starting out and looking to make a name for themselves in the wedding industry.

I think each videographer takes a different approach to their work. In many cases, we’re doing the same thing, we just have different perspectives. As a Christian, I believe weddings are a cosmic celebration of a man and woman becoming one family. The vows, first dance, father-daughter dance, and speeches all are incredibly profound moments that I want to honor, both in the moment and in your film. My wife and I welcomed our little girl, Adalyn, a few months ago, so you’ll probably see me tearing up during the father-daughter dance…

Here’s the approach that I take, and it’s usually pretty in-line with what you’re thinking as a couple. You want to be able to see Grandma dancing with one of the groomsmen. You want to see and remember the hard work you put into your centerpieces and table layout for the reception. You want to be able to show your kids and grandkids your first kiss as husband and wife, and you want to see your crazy bridesmaid’s entrance at the start of the reception. You’ll probably watch your wedding film once every few months after your wedding, but you want one that’ll make you laugh and even cry.

I didn’t hire a videographer for my wedding, but I would’ve loved to have seen my groomsmen playing cornhole with each other, my old high school hockey coaches sharing a beer together, and hear the vows I swore in front of God and our wedding guests for the rest of our lives.

I try to be a fly on the wall during the wedding day, and I try to capture things you probably didn’t catch the day of. That being said, the bridal portraits are one of my favorite portions of wedding films, because who doesn’t want to look like a movie star once in their lives?
